Show at the Symphony

While I was in Nashville, I was also privileged to walk in the Symphony's annual benefit show, featuring Monique Lhuillier's Fall 2013 collection. Her line came straight off the New York Fashion Week runway and into the dressing room of Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The collection included a palette of jewel and earth tones mixed with draping, embroidery and fringe.

NY Magazine's "The Cut" chose my piece as one of the "Editor's Favorite Looks", which is not surprising. It offered me the romanticism and classic feel I desire in an evening look while it also comes across as being very sultry, even with its modest length skirt and full sleeve.

Our hair was slicked back and our pony tail was twisted and wrapped in strips of suede. The end result was a polished, artistic twist of black at the crown of the head. The makeup was bold yet not too distracting. Thick "Cleopatra" eyeliner with a nude lip was enough to make our faces stand out without detracting attention from the beauty of the gowns. And don't forget about the shoes! The shoes were amazing. A mix of lace overlay, peep-toe, and ribbons were the perfect complement to these ensembles.

Karen Elson opened the show with "The Birds, They Circle", which was wonderful live, and none of the girls tripped while walking in the long gowns up and down steps. The evening was a complete, and stunning, success!
